2011 Year in Review

Here are CLAMP's highlights from this past year!

Manga stats:

• Kobato. ended with Drop 24ish, Volume 6 and an artbook.
• xxxHOLiC ended with chapter 213, Volume 19, and a small comic in Suga Shikao's book.
• GATE 7 reaches chapter 11 and Volume 2.
• Drug & Drop reaches chapter 2.
• Gohou Drug Volumes 1-3 were re-released.
• RG Veda and Tokyo Babylon have started to be re-released in omnibus form as a part of the CLAMP Classic Collection.

Anime productions:

• xxxHolic ・Rou Adayume OAD was attached to Volume 19 of the manga.
• BLOOD-C aired over the summer.

Other:

• There was a CLAMP@Mobile Fes exhibit in Ikebukuro in February.
• There was a devastating earthquake and tsunami in March. CLAMP posted a message of encouragement and a new CC Sakura illustration/nico video.
• The CLAMP Festival was held in September in Tokyo.
• CLAMP collaborated with Blythe again this year with a Yuuko doll.
• CLAMP posted news of a member's health early December, and asks for understanding as it may affect their work.
• CLAMP contributed a Cardcaptor Sakura-inspired wedding dress to the 2011 Tokyo Bridal Festa the past Xmas weekend.
• CLAMP also participated in many other miscellaneous illustrative projects.

Upcoming:

• BLOOD-C: The Last Dark film opens June 2, 2012.
• Moon Saga stage play opens in July. This will spinoff into manga, music and other works in 2012.
• Code Geass stage play opens in April.
• Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito will appear in 2012 (I hope).
• CLAMP will collaborate with Petworks to produce a momoko doll.

How's it look? Sorta like a flower girl's dress in my opinion.

Dengeki #2 is out and the magazine has a special download page where you can get PC, ipad, cell phone wallpapers of CLAMP's illustration here.

CLAMP also created some stickers for Yui Sakai's helmet. She's a Japanese short track skater that was at the previous Winter Olympics. She posted photos of the stickers at her blog.

[Update] CLAMP Bridal Festa site open

The Tokyo Bridal Festa site has a CLAMP page open here. (No new images yet.) If you missed the news, CLAMP has designed a Cardcaptor Sakura-inspired haute couture wedding dress for the December 23-24 event. Cardcaptor Sakura and Chobits art panels will be on exhibit, too.

[Cover] BLOOD-C DVD/BD Volume 4

The illustrations for the CLAMP-illustrated limited edition (left image) and regular version of the 4th DVD/BD are out. They will be on sale December 21st.

[News] CLAMP x PW-momoko

In preparation for Petwork's 10th Anniversary in 2012, CLAMP is designing a momoko doll!

These dolls are similar in size to Mattel's Barbie, are ball-jointed and only a handful are released each year emphasizing current fashion trends. You can see previous collaborations here and here along with their previous line-ups.

[Cover] Tokyo Babylon 1 - CLAMP Classic Collection +

Here's the cover of Kadokawa's reprint of Tokyo Babylon as a part of their CLAMP Classic Collection. There will be 3 volumes in this reprint (so about 2-3 original tankoubans in 1 new volume. There were 7 original volumes.). This will be out January 4th.

Chobits: The Complete Series: For under $20, you can get this classic anime on Blu-ray. It is still considered one of CLAMP's best manga-to-anime works.

[Update] Moon Saga and Code Geass

The Moon Saga press conference was held earlier today and was also streamed live. Gackt, the director and a couple other key staff were there. They talked about the story and the expansion of the play to manga, anime, game and music. The play will run July-August next year.

And speaking of stage plays, Code Geass will have a run of 13 performances on stage in April of next year. Geass-Stage.net will have info on this project and ticket purchase.

[News] BLOOD-C Movie website opens

The official BLOOD-C: The Last Dark Movie website is open with a new CLAMP illustration (click above the image for large size) and trailer. The trailer loads fairly slowly on the website so try youtube.

Gotta say that the 30-second trailer was more interesting than the full 12 episodes of the tv series.

CLAMP-NET's beginning of December update: while there were no breaks in publication, CLAMP has posted a notice on its website regarding the health issues of one of its members who has been diagnosed with a lumbar compression fracture due to the nature of their work. As a result, they have decided to focus on treatment and ask for understanding as it may affect their current works. [CLAMP's post, ANN's summary]
