[News] Magic Knight Rayearth - domestic box set

Just noticed that Anime Works is re-releasing and has remastered the Magic Knight Rayearth anime series. The season 1 DVD box set is out this week while the season 2 box set will be out in July. Amazon has a pretty low price on them. [credits: Amazon.com]

[Review]xxxHolic・Rou OAD

xxxHolic・Rou OAD! *spoilers* The anime episode attached to Volume 17 of the manga is a 40-minute stand-alone episode which gives you the gist of Yuuko's disappearance, and Watanuki's current state of mind. If it weren't for the kitsune story, I almost thought I was watching some sort of doujinshi version of xxxHolic; Maru & Moro in bed with our main character, Doumeki giving him the full body scan, all the drinking...well, that's not new. While the tv series had a mysterious, playful tone, the OAD captures the bittersweet sadness that Watanuki feels since the truth of Yuuko's existence has been revealed. The manga still has this lingering feeling, too, and I hope CLAMP has some happiness up their sleeves for Watanuki. The production and story for this one-shot wasn't as great as the Shumuki OAD, but still, the new role Doumeki plays in Watanuki's life is highlighted and that in itself, is interesting.

The Code Geass Tanjoubi no Kiseki DVD had a short PV about the new anime project (2ch rumors are that it is a 6-part OVA):

There will be a mail-in new short OAD for those who buy the 3 upcoming magazines with the new xxxHolic-related content: Shonen Magazine, Zoukan Magazine SP and Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.

The xxxHolic anime will also be re-release in a box set. The 1st part will be out in July with 12 episodes. CLAMP will illustrate the box, and there will also be a deluxe booklet with anime illustrations included. The 2nd part will be out in the summer, too, while a xxxHolic Kei box set is also planned.

FUNimation is also re-releasing the first season as a part of their Viridian Collection (meaning~ less expensive than their previous box set). It will be out in May.

To celebrate the release of the xxxHolic•Rou DVD next Friday, the website has uploaded downloadable Mokona-themed tumbler patterns similar to that used by Kohane in the anime.

CLAMP-NET's mid-April update: Little bit of re-styling the website...Kobato has Drop #s now, menu items have slight changes.

No new scheduling changes or major additions. Check the previous news post for what's coming up. :)

[News] Chobits re-licensed

FUNimation announced the re-licensing of the Chobits anime at Anime Boston. It will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in 2011. (The anime was previously released on DVD by Geneon).
